This is what Auroralumina attenboroughii looked like 560 million years ago.

It is the oldest known animal predator and is 560 million years old.

UK scientists found it years ago in Charnwood Forest in Leicestershire and have now identified its fossil for the first time.

they called him Auroralumina attenboroughiinamed after biologist David Attenborough, and they believe it to be a precursor to cnidarians, the group of species that today includes jellyfish.

“I think it looks like the Olympic torch, with its tentacles like flames,” says Frankie Dunn of the University of Oxford, who reported on the discovery in the journal Nature Ecology and Evolution.
