Xiaomi 12 Lite Review – Andrea Galeazzi

Autonomy, manageability and even the camera compartment are its strengths. For the rest I found it a good mid-range, not revolutionary but concrete with an evaluation that .. depends on the price!

Materials design and touch and feel

Thanks to its square frame, ai 7.3mm thick and to the suns 173 grams weight holds very well in the hand and does not slip.

L’always on display is there but it is not a true “always” because it remains active only for 10 seconds after the touch of the screen. As for the connectivity we find 5G, WiFi6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and NFC with Google Pay and Android Auto that didn’t give me any problems.

Screen

The Screen it’s a AMOLED And 6.55 “ with resolution FHD, 402PPI, refresh rate a 120 Hz maximum brightness of 950 nits. It is a good panel, which does not have those typical defects of some AMOLEDs by setting the brightness to a minimum but which sometimes does not see very well under the sun, a little more brightness would not have hurt.

Processor and memory

The processor it is Snapdragon 778G a 6nm with Adreno 642L GPU, 8 GB from RAM And 256 GB from internal memory UFS 2.2 not expandable.

Battery

The battery it’s a 4,300 mAh, 21.5Wh, with wired charge a 67W (50% in 13 minutes) but no wireless charging.
Autonomy I would say to be one of his strong points, I get there at the end of my day with stress 20% residue. Well that there are settings for the optimized charging, in order to prolong the performance of the battery over time.

Software and ecosystem

The onboard software is Android 12 with the MIUI 13 updated at patch from May and Xiaomi updates arrive with an average frequency. There MIUI it is always very complete, with the possibility of having separate control center and notifications and with the usual feature of not being able to open the main screen of the apps from the notifications but only those certain conversations.

Telephone department

All ok with regards to telephone part, good call quality, good reception and I had no problem with the proximity sensor. The combiner is that of Google, which then reports it SPAM and with the possibility of to record the calls!

Photo and video

The room compartment is composed by:

  • camera principal And 108 MP, f / 1.9, 26mm,
  • camera ultra-wide angle And 8MP, f / 2.2 with an angle of 120 °,
  • camera macro And 2MP, f / 2.4.

As mentioned at the beginning, this is one of its strong points. All the shots are good mid-range, and with excellent management of HDR and dark scenes. The touch, however, is not very responsive, here more than in the other apps.

Apps and games

Between apps it moves pretty well, it is fluid but, due to UFS 2.2 memories, not very fast in loading. A little weakens the vibration, which is not even too precise and the sensitivity of the touch, a bit low.

The speech made earlier is even more valid for the games, that being very heavy apps take a long time to open, but then they run well and Real Racing is also playable without problems.

Final judgement

His price and of 459 euros and I think it is too high, not that the phone is bad, on the contrary, but at 299 euros it would have been almost a best buy, or at least competitive because of its handling, room and autonomy. At this price I would prefer the Redmi Note 11S, which at 200 euros is not too lower in daily usability.
